Dr. Sebastian Mahfood, OP, Provost of Sacred Heart Institute, is a Lay Dominican of the Province of St. Albert the Great and Vice-President of External Affairs at Holy Apostles in Cromwell, CT.

Dr. Mahfood developed with the assistance of the Holy Apostles faculty the program of study for the online courses at Sacred Heart. As complementary to the formal study provided by these courses, Dr. Mahfood has established a Catholic publishing house, En Route Books and Media, which has published since its founding in 2014 over a hundred Catholic books, and an internet radio station, WCAT Radio, which airs five dozen shows a week. In addition, Dr. Mahfood serves as treasurer of the Institute for Theological Encounter with Science and Technology, founded in 1968 by Fr. Robert Brungs, SJ, which seeks to demonstrate that our faith and our science are not in conflict with one another.

Dr. Daniel Van Slyke, Research Fellow of the Sacred Heart Institute, served for three years as academic dean of online learning for Holy Apostles in Cromwell, CT, during the period in which the online courses for Sacred Heart Institute were being developed by Holy Apostles faculty.

In addition to assisting in the development of the Sacred Heart Institute courses, Dr. Van Slyke spearheaded the development of the undergraduate program at Holy Apostles and presided over the redesign of the graduate programs.

Dr. Van Slyke also taught full-time at Mundelein Seminary in Chicago and Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis.
